Foot Pain

Overview

Injury, overuse, over-pronation, fallen arches, or conditions causing inflammation involving any of the bones, ligaments, or tendons in the foot can cause foot pain.

Symptoms

The location and severity of foot pain vary depending on the cause of the problem. Signs and symptoms that may accompany foot pain include:

  • Weakness or instability
  • Swelling and stiffness
  • Numbness and tingling
  • Pain with standing/walking/running

Traditional Treatment

Medical treatment of foot pain involves cortizone injections, rigid orthotics, or surgery. These treatments can lead to more damage, loss of function, and more pain.

Chiropractic Treatment

Here at Aspen Chiropractic: A Spine, Hand, and Foot Clinic, we are pleased to offer an advanced, safe, and non-surgical treatment for foot conditions. Dr. Paul Gurney has advanced, post-doctorate training in the treatment of foot conditions. Just like improper alignment of your spine can lead to spinal pain and problems or the alignment of your car tires leads to your tires wearing out early; improper alignment of your feet can lead to a number of foot problems. Consequently, restoring the proper alignment and function of the feet can lead to healing of many foot conditions.  Since standing on your feet with all your body weight on them causes the alignment to be lost, many foot conditions require functional orthotics.  Unlike rigid orthotics that try to pound your feet into submission with every step, functional orthotics are molded to your adjusted feet.  Therefore they just support the proper alignment of your feet.  Contact us today to find out if our safe and pain-free treatment can help your foot pain.  If we can’t help your foot pain, we will be glad to refer you.

Common Conditions

Improper foot alignment can lead to:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Corns/Bunions
  • Shin splints
  • Hammer Toes
  • Heel pain
  • Heel spurs
  • Recurring ankle sprains
  • Knee pain/degeneration
